Daniel Defense Bolt Carrier Group. I personally worry more about what and whom each part is mad from, the quality and inspection process of the parts. Also, why one over the other? Get a PWS MK116 Mod 2 or LWRC IC Enhanced and call it the day, your money will be better spent. Tim on the MAC has a video about why he likes BCM and seems to consider them one of the best platforms, but I can’t find a video on MAC that has him review anything Daniel Defense related to compare to. Both are good choices IMO. Don’t worry buddy, it wasn’t mine either I meant to point out the same reasoning you did. The way I see it is that when you are altering an existing design, from an engineering standpoint you’re basically going back to the drawing board and coming up with a whole other animal. PWS, LWRC and HK AR variants were designed from the ground up to be piston driven. The YHM is my varmint/target rifle while the M&P optics ready carbine is my home/defensive rifle. @Minuteman - I am literally an Engineer, lol. Just as a caution, many people equal best value for your money as being cheap. The Rifles: The BCM upper I purchased direct from BCM a couple years ago. I also think DI is a thing of the past as the trend nowadays is towards piston operation, and has been for quite soe years now. POF is hit or miss and HK is overpriced so neither of those are worth looking in to. Not to say that DD isn’t a great company but I think that BCM takes the cake. They make you use the tip of a bullet to push out a take-down pin (completely ridiculous). HK has taken steps to make their system proprietary in areas that are to the detriment of the design. Just my $0.02. With that said, I’m in the process of building a MK12mod0 clone using mostly BCM parts, mostly because of reviews such as what Tim did at the MAC channel as well as some friends of mine who have used BCM builds for competition and swear by them. Both Daniel Defense receivers leave Mil-spec well behind. Don’t try to shoehorn a piston into a rifle that was never intended to have one. DD pro has a geiselle trigger. Get Cheap Bcm Vs Midwest Industries Vs Daniel Defense Ar15 at best … Bcm has standard metal ejection doors. I have accounts with DSG, Rainer, Midway, and a few others. I feel like this question is the equivalent of asking if I am a Pepsi or Coke guy. BCM or Daniel Defense - Which one to get and why? I personally just couldn’t see justification in buying a complete rifle when both manufactures offer uppers for far less that would meet your criteria/specs. It’s more of a subtle push rather than a punch. As for Rob Ski testing, it’s just like mine. So I’ve always seen the same answers on other forums when people compare BCM and Daniel Defense AR-15’s chambered in 5.56: My question is this: If I can afford to purchase one dream rifle with a mid length gas system, 14.5" Pinned and welded barrel with a 1/7" twist rate that’s as light as possible but still can engage man sized targets out to 300 yards, which one would you spend your hard earned cash on - Daniel Defense or a BCM? I would suggest going with the rifle that you personally like the look/feel of the most. My main reason is the folding stock. DD vs BCM is BMW vs Mercedes. In 2010 I took advantage of a Daniel Defense 'build your own rifle' offer and got a basic DD upper receiver including their 16" midlength pencil barrel, BCG, charging handle and F-marked FSB. But as we agree, it’s all a matter of personal preference. But even that is a daunting task. I want to try something that they say handles heavier loads like 62gr, 68gr, and 77gr bullets. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with them, they do what they’re supposed to do. Rob [Ski] and another guy I cannot recall quickly had the same problems with the v11 I believe. I’d put nobody down for buying them. I believe in quality components and quality results. YMMV but, personally, I wouldn’t bother with DI AR-15’s at all. I don’t like what I consider to be junk brands (Bushmaster, DPMS etc). IIRC the HK416 is proprietary and the lowers and uppers aren’t interoperable between other AR pattern rifles. Bushmaster vs Colt? Yep. I have owned both and had problems. Virtually every new military general service rifle that is being adopted around the world is piston driven. All of the top level AR-15s are superb. Daniel Defense: DDM4 V3, DDM3 VV5, DDMA1. You can’t go wrong with either of 'em. Bcm check out filthy 14 over 30,000 rounds in the rifle haven’t seen any daneil defense anywhere near that. Because you don’t need to change anything. There is absolutely nothing wrong with DI systems. PSA is a very reliable hammer, Daniel Defense is a scalpel. The only reason I own 3 AR’s is that 2 of them serve far different purposes. That said, I’ve heard nothing but good things about both companies. Daniel Defense is another company known for their top-shelf products, and their bolt carrier group certainly lives up to the name. Much like the other bolt carrier groups featured here, it has a shot-peened, magnetic particle inspected (MPI), and high-pressure tested (HPT) Carpenter 158® steel bolt. Most my builds are Seekins SP 223 lowers (which are the Best Lowers on the market) with a Vltor upper, and a quality barrel in 223 Wylde with a matched bolt or if not available a JP bolt.
